I've been working on a French web page, and am having trouble with the accents. This is the first time I've tried to work in French under gnome. When I was using M$ products, I always used a US English Keyboard layout and would just use ascii codes for the accents
ie é=alt+0233, à=alt+0224
Is there a similar method to do this using gnome? I tried in a terminal window and a couple editors that I had installed, and it would just display the numbers that I typed. Any suggestions are appreciated.
