how to use this file ....diff.gz???

i want to use acpi in my smp system, but it was an experiment code. i search around on google and found this:http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=36832

it's a acpi-patch. but i don't know how to used it. anyone know how to install it?? i was redirect by intel site:

it said download the lastest kernel and recompile it.

gzip -d filename.gz
tar xvf filename.tar

After you extract it you'd need to actually apply the patch to your kernel. This can be done by cd'ing into the root of your kernel try and running `patch -p1 < acpi_patch.diff`, obviously changing the filename to whatever it actually is for the patch.

thanks...XWRed1. but after i doing this patch, i can't do make xconfig or anyother make config. it's wired. huh.....APCI.......very hard to get it done......
