DNS Server?


how would i go about setting up a dns server of my own? i am asking becuase i want to set up a domain controller and host some sites.

Well you need to get a DNS server to begin with. You can get some free ones with various linux distributions. I like tiny DNS. After that you need to register a domain, and you need to register the IP you have with your domain so it's directed to you, and from there you configure your dns server.

i already have lightningfx.net so i just set up the dns server and point the ip to the domain?

Yes assuming you have a static IP, when you register your domain use your static IP with that domain.

yea i do have a static ip. ok..i think i might find a suse distro that has a dns server bult in

ok so far i have:
1.d/led simple dns
2.made the zones
3.configured it
4.registred the nameserver with godaddy

is this right so far?
