Swiftech MCX462+T

I just saw a post earlier today about a new HS that swiftech will be releasing soon called the MCX462+. It looks to be a MCX462+ HS that swiftech has added a peltier to.

I was just wonder what the take on this would be from the guys that are using pelts with water cooling. Has this been tried before (air cooling a pelt instead of water cooling). I am sure someone has done this but I haven't seen anything like this (everything in 1 unit totaly sealed).

It is supposed to be immune to condensation because the pelt is sealed within. Think this sounds good?

I personally can't wait to read a review of it.

I just bought a prometeia, but I may get one of these for my other computer, just cause I am too damn curious about it.

Don't be mislead by the "Totaly Sealed" marketing hoopla. The neoprene sponge only goes as far as the coldplate which leaves a lot of areas in danger. Under the CPU is something that should concern you. There is a good peltier primer on the front page, it'll do you loads of good to read it.

Send a PM to donny_paycheck, he has a aircooled peltier setup.

The ends of the Peltier device are not terminated. 4 pin Molex connectors are not rated for this kind of amperage and may overheat.

Recommended power supply features screw type terminal (screw bare wire into terminal):

If connected to a computer power supply featuring sufficient amperage for the TEC requirements, then wires should be connected to the Power supply with feed-throug terminal blocks. This will require cutting off one of the Molex connectors of the power supply, to allow the connection. We are looking into supplying these with the product, but haven't made the decision yet. These are available at McMasterCar for 0.75cts each.

All necessary and sufficient gasket insulation is provided, except for Dielectric grease, recommended for use to insulate socket pin holes:

Like I said in the other thread, a 226W peltier will need a dedicated PSU & extra insulation on the mobo.
