hey guys new system up and runnign? NOPE. all i get is a straight FF post with no video. any clue why? all is in the computer right now is processor, video card and 1 256 ram. would the computer still boot if the proxessor was bad? what about the ram? i hope its something simple, like missing a jumper or another. help out if you can.

thanks

or shall i say

SETI@HOME Thanks you :)

Navy Boy you got a motherboard there that has a reputation for
having a problem with the 5 volt rail. The FF is NORMAL at the
end of the BIOS load phase. I have had to get 350 watt PSUs
for this MB and even some of them don't work. The normally
great Enermax PSUs are especially a problem.

We need more info to help you out.

thats the problem, it does not go threw its bit test, it straight up shows FF. ive cleared the cmos. ive reseated the ram. im completly lost. will it boot with a bad processor?

No, the system wont be able to do anything if the processor is
bad. Is it possible you cracked the core when you put the
HS on? Can you get into the BIOS at all?

Wow, that's too bad. I'll bet you somehow cracked the core.

But I have also seen one guy do one goofy thing that caused
the same thing. His MB was somehow shorted to the case. Don't
ask me how he did it...somehow the standoffs were wrong.

There are no DIP switches you need to mess with. Stay factory
default until you get up and going stable.

Take it all apart and re-assemble. Also make sure your Vid card
is well seated.

dont say that. this is a processor i bought from a oc forum user a while back. its not good. because your saying i can install a heatsink (ax-7) but then crack the core when i install a factory heatsink

Yes, Unfortunately. If you got friends who have a MB that will
take your CPU you might talk them into trying it on their system.

Take the HS off and see if there are cracks/chips around the
edges of the die.
