I have a MSI KT3 Ultra with onboard RIAD and I wanted to know if I could use the extra ide slots normally for the RAID as an extra place to atach another hard drive without the RAID function. Any ideas?

I have an Iwill XP333-r and I do that, I dont know if the MSI board will do the same but I dont see why not. It is nice becuase you can hook 4 different devices on their own channel plus you can have a possible 8 devices. What RAID controller do you have?

Most RAID controllers can double as just plain extra IDE controllers, though some don't like having optical devices on them (i.e. Zip's and CDROM/CDRW/DVD's). I know the Highpoint controller on my KT7A-Raid can run just like a normal IDE controller.
