Its the same as installing the Windows text-only version, yes.

If you are familiar with linux, you will have no trouble with this, but if you are not…. The file needs to be untarred (zip files in linux, essentially)

At a command prompt:

tar –xvf setiathome-3.03.i386-pc-linux-gnu-gnulibc2.1.tar

A bunch of us use linux for seti, try posting in the seti group for faster service.
