BTW I have windows XP pro on my desktop and XP home on the laptop...I have a netgear 4 port router and a linksys 8 port hub....the network card in my desktop is a 3com
 
There won't be too much of a difference, all you have to do is find the section in the setup that allows you to set a static IP. It should give you the option of DHCP or static IP for the WAN. Find that, and plug in your assigned IP address.

Then all you need to do is set all of your computers to DHCP, and everything should be good. :)
