Win98se To Win2kpro = 1k Point Loss?

Win98se To Win2kpro = 1k Point Loss?


ok so i reformatted and installed win2k pro and i lost a thousand points in 3d mark 2001 se... whats the deal? im using the 41.03 detonators and before i was i was using some 30.xx one not sure...

98se definitely benches faster, but at the cost of stability. while win2k on the other hand is more stable, and is supposedly built on the NT kernel. so, its much more stable than XP, but since its a microsoft product, it is still prone to BSODs.

back-up and reformat if you want to. SOme old drivers may be effecting it, maybe from other components? I would prolly reformat if I were to switch from windows98se to win2k since all components basically need different drivers. Remember, this is not a sure fire thing that it will increase your score, just a possibility. O ya, I hat windows2k, it seems so different than all other WIndows. It is all about XP. I had to figure iut how to network a computer yesterday with win2kpro, but obe had windows xp. Not fun.

did you install SP3 and get new motherboard drivers?

it might be sp3. when i was running 2K i ran sp2 and scored higher then i could in windows 98. then i installed sp3 and my score dropped a couple hundered points.

thats wierd, my highest 3dmark is in 2kpro with SP3....must be those crappy nvidia win2k drivers lol (im just kidding ).....there is something wrong there though....i would expect maybe 2-300 point loss but not 1k....you sure vysnc, AA, and Aniso are all off?
