Cheapest Way to cool an xp1600?

Like the title says.. I'm looking for the cheapest way to reliably cool an xp1600 @ stock speeds. It also has to be fairly quiet.

Suggestions plz..

I have a TaiSol CGK760092 heatsink with an 80mm fan on it to cool my xp1600 (currently @1500 at 166fsb-35c idle)

but im sure the standard fan would do an ok job on its own.

its a very cheap heatsink

If you are looking for cheapest...use the retail chip and replace the chewing gum compound with some Arctic Silver 3. Don't expect much though.

Spend a little time going over the heatsink rankings on the main page and then price them at Newegg. Decide which one gives you the best cooling for the $$ and buy that.

I am using an Alpha PAL8045 with a Sunon fan and it works quite well.

SVC GC68

$6+s/h, aluminium, 80mm fan

Just need to 7-volt it, and you're all set for quiet, decent cooling. You might even be able to overclock slightly; some people have even used it on o'ced Tbirds.

Speaking of the goldengate 40 and a adapter. Question this adapter should work fine with this heatsink? Akasa adapter

I used a volcano 6cu+ on my 1600+ before I oc'ed it and got pretty good results from it. There cheap at newegg. there not as quiet as a stock hs/f, but much quieter than the globalwinCAK38 with the 60mm delta I also have.

I win.

or, if two bucks is too much, you could always blow on it really really hard.
