Post Looking to buy a new case, have question

Hi everyone, this is my first post but I've been reading this forum for over a month now. I am looking to buy a new case for the computer I'm building, gonna wait for the P4 1.8A guaranteed C1 steppings to be out. I am thinking of getting 1 12cm for intake and one 12cm for exhaust and maybe an 8cm blowing on the video card. My question is are there any benefits to having two 8cm fans instead of one 12cm assuming they get the same cfm?

PS. Another unrelated and stupid question, how do I make a signature?

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!
To make a sig, just go to the user control panel and then edit profile. Therse a box there.

As for the fans...
I think the two 8cm would be better if ya put them in different places so the airflow would be more balanced. They would also cause more turbulence in the air (I think that would be a good thing)

But dont take my word for it-
I watercool, so I have next to no airflow in my case (just psu fans)

Thanks for the response and the welcome. I'm going to wait for more responses before making up my mind. The reason I want to go with 12cm is to reduce noise which is a big thing since I want to have the computer on Folding 24/7 and I sleep in the same room.

Well, i dont know much about the fans, but i would get the 2 8cm fans if that and the 12cm fans are the same cfm. mainly becuase i think thery would be a bit cheaper, but then again, they may be louder.

They may be louder because if they both push the same cfm, then the smaller blades would have to move faster to keep the same amount as the larger, 12cm fans.

But then again, sound factor also has to do with the type and quality of the fan u get...maybe get a couple tornado's if ur gonna sleep in there j/k those things r loud....lol

and yes, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Welcome to the forums!

I would suggest two 120 mm if possible instead of the two 80mm... quieter and more CFM, the best of both worlds. If you can get 100 or more CFM in and out of the case then your case temps will be a non-issue... the first place to start for a good O/C is low case temps.

My celery box (sig) has a case temp of 24C max... has about 175 CFM going in and 150 going out.

BTW to make your sig, click the user CP button (control panel) on the top of the screen. Then go to edit profile, there will be a field to enter your data titled "signiture" no html is supported, but vB code is (a link explains this).

You'll find that the moderators prefer you to keep the sig at 10 lines of normal text...

Well as you can see I figured out how to make my sig. I will consider getting two 120mm in and now, but the problem is those cases are hard to find. Does anyone have any links to a good aluminum case with room for that. Price is not really an issue, I don't mind paying more for quality 120mm fans.

Well I have another question and since it belongs in the same category I might as well ask it here. What I want to know is, exactly how many watts does a XP 1800+ Palamino use.

On second thought maybe it belongs in AMD CPUs, but it has something to do with power.
