My cousin's computer has been having some serious problems lately, namely memory dumps windows system errors. The scenarios include:
-Failed transfer of files during XP and 2k setups
-BSOD memory dumps halfway through win2k setup
-Explorer.exe has generated errors upon double-clicking "My Computer" in win2k.

Ran a diagnostic test on his hard drive(Western Digital 13GB)
and the test results indicated that we had unrepairable errors on the drive. I let him use a 11 Gig Quantum Bigfoot drive, and we didn't have any more memory dumps. I let him use a stick of my memory and problems still occured.

His system:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
GigaByte K7VR (Kt333)
1 stick of Corsair PC2100 DDR266
11 GB Quantum Big foot
GeForce 2 MX 64MB
DLink 10/100 NIC
Generic 56K modem

Also ran a factory re-certification diagnostic on the quantum and it passed all tests.

We used the following components from my machine to find the problem:
LiteOn48x12x48 (still had transfer errors)
WesternDig. 40GB ("")
Memory

We're trying to put Win2k on again, and we're getting an error (after file copying is complete and reboot) that reads:
STOP C000026C[Unable to load device drive/system root/system32/drivers/dmio.sys Device drivers could not bel oaded
errors status 0XC000221

Then it says if problem continues diable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing...
(We can't find a way to disable these in the GigaByte BIOS)

After hours of testing, we found that both the memory and hard drive were the culprits. Thanks for reading
