phase change help needed

Can someone that has experience with phase change, tell me if this has any flaws or if i am missing anything, like valves, I dont know where to put them.

Also since the capilary tube is small and the exit pipe is large it it still ok.

PS:

what is TEC's in refering to extreem cooling? I am not familiar with the abriviation.

yes that diagram looks right, now you might want a stainer and dryer before the capillary line to help rid the system of moister and prevent the capillary from getting clogged.

^_^ a few questions

-what are the "stainer and dryer", how do they work, where can I get them?


-how large(diameter) should th capilary be? How hong should it be?

-Where should the valves be placed and what kind?

-how to fill the system?
 
strainer is just a very small net that captures anything that could course a blockage in the capillary line. you can get it here

the dryer captures any remaining moister that didnt get boiled off, you can find one here

I would either get the .031" ID or the .026" ID

you dont need a shutoff valve unless you are going to use the compressor itself as a vacuum pump, if you are you can pick up a shutoff valve at a hardware store, just make sure its for gas.

you might check and see if you have a hvac store in your town, or you can just buy from rparts.

can you elaborate more on that? I mean I know you have to get all the air out before you put the gas in. So you use a compressor to pump it out. Or that seems the logical way, rather then getting another pump for that. Can you help out with what is exactly the procedure of vacueming and filling the system is and how it goes ^_^ thanx
 
well you dont HAVE to remove the air from the system, but it will lead to clogging and your temps wont be as good. If you dont have a vacuum pump then you can attach a shutoff valve right after the high side fill valve. All you need to do then is close the shuttoff valve and open that fill valve right before it and it will create a vacuum wich will remove the air, now I donno how well this works but either today or tomarrow I can tell you how much a 1/4 hp compressor can pull, Im sure its not enough to allow you to boil off the water but a little is better then none.

and if so, let me try to make a guess, I also have a full valve and when the air is out I close the drain valve and hook up the gass to the fill one and open it. A few questions though:

-when filling do I turn the compressor on, because the system is fille but what aboutt he inside of the compressor?

-how noisy are compressors?
 
that is the principle. Also hook up the fill line before you vacuum it or else you will loose some vacuum when you do hook up the fill line. When you are done vacuuming just close that high side fill valve and thin open the shutoff valve. Leave the compressor on when you are filling. Fill it untell you see frost start forming on the evaporator, there is a little lag so dont be like me and get in a hurry or else you will have a frosted compressor too:D

Refrigerator compressors are very quiet, chances are your fan will be the loudest thing.
 
woah, I really want one now, anyone know of a good online place to buy one at a good price?

BTW: how do you put the copper piping together, I mean without welding equipment, how do you do it?
 
also, you know that if you have a short cycle you need a stronger compressor and so on. Well sey how do you figure out what power compressor to get if you have an X voluem of piping?
