When we get to 0.09 um, is everyone going to stop measuring it in microns?

Instead of citing the newest processors as a 'Nought point nought nine micron' production process, wouldn't it be easier to say it's a 'ninety nanometer' one?

Just some food for thought.

Most of the time, engineers in the industry actually do give figures in nanometers instead of microns. I think it's just that people have been giving microns for so long that nobody has really made an effort to change.

90nm might win some converts, but nano may not be the prefix of choice until the 65nm process rolls around (afterall, .065u is a little unwieldy).
