Radeon 9700 Pro Questions

ok so i just got one yesterday for x-mas and was wondering if i should reformat my computer to install it. i have heard about some issues with trying to install it on a standing OS with Nvidia based cards. i am at my mom's till sunday so it will be a while before i can install it. input would be delightful

Personally, i would format. I even formatted when going from an 8500, to my 9500 Pro, just to be on the safe side, and ive had no problems at all (had a problem when i flashed to Warp11's BIOS, but thats not the cards fault, and i got it all sorted out anyways, hehe) with everything ive thrown at it, at 4x AA and 16x AF

Even then its best to format. Lots of games, when run for the first time, configure themselves for the card uve got in ur system, and also Windows XP doesnt like new hardware without a fresh install

Heh torture isn't it? even worse is getting a new heatsink and a new mobo for xmas. I wanted to lap the heatsink before using it so I had to wait even longer to use the motherboard. In the end all was good though hehe.

do a reformat and install everything except the radeon 9700 pro drivers, and do a ghost of the drive for future backup to save time, you must realize that the video card might work better with one driver in one machine while another driver work better in the next, specially if you install dx 9 and want to go back, the ghost image of the drive will be a time saver

I installed without reformatting only to find out that a reformat was necessary. I figured it was so I decided to try it anyway. I say REFORMAT
