Guide to installing Ati card

Ive seen many people complain about drivers when I saw the problems they were having were easily fixed.

First, reformat and reinstall windows, even detonator destroyer cannot completely rid the system of nvidia drivers. If you cannot reformat, then here is a guide to removing Ati/nvidia drivers which should be pretty effective: http://www.driverheaven.net/showthre...&threadid=8053 (you may need to register for a driverheaven account)

Install any and all mobo drivers that are needed.
Install Catalyst driver then install control panel.

Make sure the AGP Fastwrites is OFF, and try to turn off Sidebanding as well. Also you may need to flash the newest bios on your mobo, some of the KT400 and SiS 648DX mobos had issues when the 9700Pro came out that were fixed in bios flashes

Everything should work....but if it doesn't:
Try the drivers at www.omegacorner.com, or try older Ati drivers (Catalyst 2.3 seems to be one of the better ones)

Known Issues:
Opengl sucks with new Cat3.0s and DX9, but Omegadrive fixed this and the Catalyst 3.0 Omegas, are probably some of the better drivers I've seen.

On Via KT400 boards and other early 8X AGP boards run 4X AGP if you are having problems (see Evnas's post

)

I posted this guide because I thought it would help some people who are planning to get Ati cards, or have them and are having problems. This guide is only for problems i find that 90% of the time uninstalling in control panel is more than enough

normally i wouldnt bump so much but today i saw three posts where people would have avoided problems had they just followed my advice

In there i would throw in, that ive uve got a VIA KT400 chipset, to recomend u dont run 8x AGP, and VIA were idiots and put it on their boards before Intel finished the spec and can cause problems with REAL 8x AGP cards, hehe

those are the Catalyst 3.0 based omega drivers
