Newbie needs Good video card for around $100

hi guys,

I've got 3 systems right now. one for me, 2 for the family. 2 for the family are Athlon XP system with cpu oclocked to 1700 and 1800 MHZ. They are running GeforceMX2 from my 2 older systems.
I am thinking of getting video card for these 2 systems, but my budget is only around $100 per card.
I have looked at some card came up with following choice.

Geforce 4 TI4200 128mb(around $150) bit expensive.

Geforce 4 TI4200 64MB(around $120) still bit of stretch

ATI 8500LE 128MB (around $100) on budget

Which is best money to performance value? They will be used for the games but for me extra few FPS doesn't make difference. How much performance difference is there between ATI 8500LE and Geforce4 Ti200 128mb? Please help me guys.

By the way i have geforce 3 TI200 on my main machine.

well u could always get 2 more Ti-200 which are about 85-95$ at newegg or if u prefer ATI now i would go with the 9000 over the 8500 and i personally would spend the little bit of money more to get the Ti-4200 right now which range from 120-170 per card. i think the performance increase over the 8500 is about 20% or so. i maybe wrong if i am someone correct me

i would go for the 9000 or the ti 4200

the 8500 is faster than the 9000, i would get that if you cant get the 20$ for ti4200

The 8500 IMO is the best buy. It performs near Ti4200 speeds, and is a lot cheaper

ps you can get a decent 8500le for $90 or less at newegg and replace your Gf3 with it and put the Gf3 in your other computer. The 8500le sits right between the Gf3 and Ti4200 as far as performance. Most people say its about 10% slower then the Ti4200. Oh yeah, if you are into RPGs you might like the 8500le's performance with AF. I've noticed things in the distance become very sharp when AF is turned up.

I would have gotten a 8500le over my 9000 pro, but the pro was on sale and I needed dual monitor support.

I once saw a GF4Ti4200 for $99 Refurbished @ Newegg. Keep checking the refurb section at newegg and you will get some good deals.

you can get a ti200 for $69 at pricewatch or try ebay, the geforce2 pro's go for not much more than the mx, maybe $40-50 and are decent performers

well i have an mx400 64mb and im about to upgrade...as a diehard gamer i should be shamed....but my budget is the same as both is combined...200...so im thinkin on the 9500 pro...if someone has a better suggestion plz tell me...otherwise ill stick with my choice.....as for sulu....i would say get the 8500le 128mb ddr........my friend has one and it performs like a champ...great deal for the power u get....i remember when 8500 was cutting edge.....just because there ARE faster cards doesn't mean the games require them....i can play most games well on what im running now.

go with the 8500, i've had similar systems as you have and found that until i stepped up to higher speed CPUs (2.4Ghz+) i've gotten same performance from my 64mb 8500 as with a 4600 nvidia card. save some bux and go ATI.

That could explain the slight performance difference between a geforce2mx and a geforce3 ti500
