a problem in StarWars Jedi Knight Outcast 2..

I have a slight problem. Whenever i put the CD into the CD-rom....it tries to read the CD and then i get BSOD'd.
It makes Explorer freeze......EVERY TIME

The thing is. i got a new video card for christmas. just got it installed. and a CD-RW. But the thing is. i can still play my other games. Such as WC3. or any music CD. and all. seems to only happen with this game.
And i have no idea what to do. Re-installing it won't work cause it can't read the CD. when it tried my comp crashes

and if i would Re-start my comp with the game in. when the comp has Re-booted. I would then double click the Icon for the game. The main menu would pop up. asking if i want to play single payer...ect. i click Single player.....it reads the cd........BAM BSOD.

Anyone know whats going on here?

oh yeah. its a Geforce 3 TI200. 128megs of DDR ram.

any help would.......uh....help.

Check your DMA settings on the CDRW. Turn DMA off if you are having problems, or on. Usually if you turn it off it works out bugs.

Well the thing is. i used to be able to play it. but things kept messing up in the game. i think it was due to my Old Video card.

Maby i should put in my old CD rom and see what happens. that way, i 'll knnow if its my CD-RW, or if its the Video card or the Comptuer. trial and error....when your stuck. its the best option.

unless anyone has any other idea's. .............hm........if the old CD rom works.......i could make a V-cdrom of it. that way i won't need the CD. make it think i have the CD in............i'll have to try that.....if it works......and if i can remember how to do it.

anyone know how to do it? or a program that lets me do it?

i just put in my old CD-rom. It was the CD-RW. i would put them both in. but one problem. the wire that goes into the CD-rom. for the CD-rom sound. i only have 1 connector on my motherboard. do i don't know if it would then work.

so my idea is then.......how do i do the V-cdrom? Where the computer thinks that the CD is in there? anyone know?

no i did not. i'm going to. But my only options is. re-install 98se. Or install xp. so........not yet. plus a friend of mine said that this week, he is on cable. he will send me Win2k.

but, its not the Video card. its the CD-RW. Cause the cd will work on the old CDrom, but won't work on my CDrw. its not the video card at all. now. i just need to make the cd, into a Virtual CD-rom. to trick my computer. and there problem fixed.........as soon as i figure out how do to it........

as far as i know that wire is only for music cd's, i haven't had one on my CD writer (only drive btw) since i upgraded my motherboard over a month ago and i haven't had a problem yet.

there's programs that let you use virtual drives, search for virtual cd-rom on google and you should find a few of them.
