XP Boots to a Blank Screen with a Blinking Cursor? Help!

Hey all,

i left my newly built machine on overnight last nite to charge my mp3 player, and when i came back this morning all id had was a Blank Screen with a Blinking Cursor. i tried to reboot and the same thing keeps happening! i can get into the bios fine...the OS is a clean install of windows xp pro i just did a few days ago...

Do you get the blank screen with a blinking cursor after the winxp splash screen appears? After post? during post?

You might have loaded some bad drivers if you get a blank screen after the splash screen. I have done this many times. Boot into safe mode and uninstall the drivers that may be causing this.
