I wasn't real sure which forum to put this in so I will stick it here. Would running an Athlon 1600XP at 1700 speeds cause windows to not finish shutting down when you shut the computer down?

Welcome to the forums.
Normally, it shouldn't be a problem, unless you might have corrupted the shutdown screens.

Well I installed that patch and it still won't shut down properly or boot up on the first try? This is really annoying.

Something else is going on. I run windows 98se and have through duron 750 (1.12Ghz), tbird 1.0 (1.6Ghz), 1.4 (1.7Ghz), xp1600 (1.72Ghz), xp2200 (2.3Ghz). Though it does have its' moments (such as doing a quick reboot before it can reload the registry on a high oc) I do believe you have something else going on.
