bad HD performance

I just ran PCmark 2002 and saw my HD performance was rated at like 800 points... I didn't think anything of it until I got online and compared to everyone else. Why is mine so low? I have a 30GB Maxtor 7200rpm.

One thing I notice and suspect: hen I boot p, it says "no 80 pin conductor detected" but then it keeps going. Does that mean I have a bad cable?

Windows says I have a generic drive, should there be drivers for it or something?

First off are you using the 80 pin cable because it doesn't sound like it. Take a look at the cables going in to the floppy and the HD and see if they look the same or if the HD has twice as many wires. If they look the same then you need to change the HD cable to an 80pin.
