Exclamation Slk-800.... Wow !!!

Look no further if you want the best AMD air cooler on the market!!! ThermalRight SLK-800. This site rates it at the top of the list and for good reason. I installed one in my system (see sig below) and my processor temps dropped 20 degrees F idle and 25-30 degrees F in games!! I formerly had an all copper heatsink from OCZ called the Gladiator with an 8,000 rpm YTech 60mm fan. I'm running a ThermalTake II 80mm fan at only 3,300 rpm to get these reduced temps!! Arctic Silver 3 was used on both setups. "Mommie, why is that man pink?" "Well, I guess he's tickled!"

That's a HUGE temp drop, but yeah, the slk-800 is great!

congrats! the slk is the best air cooling solution out now!
some have said that the delta or the tornado is an even more awesome combo with the slk.
that's if you can handle the noise!!

just remember to lap the thing after about every....2 or 3 CPU changes.

Copper is kinda soft...it'll help, trust me.

Ye, the noise of the 8,000 60mm fan was kinda annoying. With the OCZ heatsink when playing SS2 and a main board temp of 80 F, the cpu was peaking as high as 132 F. Today, it was peaking at 105 F. That's with the ThermalTake II running nearly silent at 3,300 rpm. That peak is only 5 degrees F higher than the idle temp. Also, I noticed the copper OCZ heatsink I took off had the text of the 1800+ imprinted into it. Lapping after every change sounds like excellent advice. I even lapped the SLK-800 before I put it on. If only the manufacturers would spend the extra few minutes to lap the cutting tool marks out of the mounting surface for us. They could do it easily with a machine.

I got one a little while ago. temps dropped about 4 degrees C, while switching to a low RPM fan at the same time.

Yep, the SLK800 is an impressive heatsink. When people ask what heatsink to buy, I refer them to SVCompucycle's 30.00 SLK-800 on sale from 50.00. AMD's best cooler for 30.00...
