hard drive down, hard drive down

my IBM 60gig 72k rpm is KIA. I want to RMA it but should I completely format my data before I RMA it OR should I have faith in the RMA people. My hd making strange noises and it takes forever to access a program and load OS.

How do i format a dying hard drive?

Back to the topic, how do you format a dying hard drive?

Use the IBM disk ulitity to make a boot disk and use it to write zeros. Then you'll be fine. In fact, this could fix your hard drive.
