500w "Achieve" Power Supply $28.50

http://www.buypcdirect.com/product.asp?pf_id=PSP4500W

Just ordered one of these for myself. They only have one review on reseller ratings, but its positive, so I took my chances.

Hopefully the powersupply will be as good as the specs say:

Quote:
Output:
500W Max

+3.3V 30A
+5V 50A
+12V 25A
-5V 0.5A
-12V 0.8A
+5VSB 2.0A

Not too shabby for $28.50. I'll let you guys know what I think of it when it arrives.

FREE SHIPPING BTW

Just got one, hope it has enough juice to run a 1600+ and about 10 case fans!

I sure hope these work out for all of us.

I mean, for 28.50, you can't really go wrong. As long as it'll power my new dually, and with those specs, it should.

Any idea on the combined wattage of the 3.3v and 5v rails?

Wow that does seem like a real good price for 500watts, I'm on 400, but if I'm going to get a GF FX or 9700 Pro, and 3 extra fans, and everything else in my rig, im thinking about going for more, and wut great timing..

How does this compare to say a Antec True Power PSU? The Antec True Power are pretty expensive..

Also.. When you talk about all those
+3.3V 30A
+5V 50A
+12V 25A
-5V 0.5A
-12V 0.8A
+5VSB 2.0A

What exactly are these? What difference do they make in a system? Longer lasting, faster?

Are those pretty standard numbers?

These are good numbers for a 500W PSU which shows it should be able to handle a relatively heavy load. Looks like a great deal. I'd like to hear more from those who've bought one.
+3.3V 30A
+5V 50A
+12V 25A

My status is still "pending." They probably don't process on the weekends, and maybe not today either. I'm getting a little excited to see how this PS stacks up to more expensive ones.

-CPFitz-

Has anyone else's order made it past "pending"?

Mine is still pending too.

When I got this new P4 it runs fine at 3.06 Ghz until I start playing a 3d intensive game. Then I get this terrible crackling and high pitched wine from the speakers and the system hard locks. Do you think the Enermax 350 w PSU may be the cause. Maybe it just dosent have enough juice to run all the BS in my case AND power the 9700 pro when its stressed.

I thought maybe I would switch out PSU's for this 500 w one and see what happens.

Is there anyway to tell if the PSU is crapping out durning games?

What do you think?

I'm no expert on Power supplies, but does your PSU crap out during other intensive things such as Sandra, Folding/Seti, Prime 95, etc.

If you notice the pitch in your fans change, when you run a CPU intensive app, your PS will probably be the cause.

Ask the people in Cases and Power Supplies though, I could be wrong.

Can you guys post yuour results as soon as you get these? I'm in the market for a high quality PSU and this seems ideal.

It just poops out on me in games, 1 in particular, Dark Age of Camelot.

Posting in the PSU forums is a great idea, I'll do that.

As for posting results, I can tell you what kind of voltages I'm getting in the bios (when I get it), but what other kind of results are you looking for?
