Error message when booting win 98

When booting windows 98 on my packard bell pc the screen freezes on the windows 98 logo screen after displaying the error message 'incorrect resource assignment' Any help would be appreciated.

Did you add a new card to the computer? You will have to go into the bios to assign each card it's own irq. It might be having problems automatically assigning each one. That's the only thing I can think might be the problem.

you might have a sound card or modem that went bad pull one at a time and try to reboot each time
