What does the NVIDIA Driver Helper Service Do?

Hi,
Can you tell me what this does and is it needed- NVIDIA Driver Helper Service.
BV says it's ok to disable it, but i'd just like to know what it does.

Causes your windows to take a hell of a lot longer to shut down, other than that, Nothing!

I think it is supposed to save logs of crashes of the drivers when you shutdown. So if it crashes you can call support and the do something...

I am not sure how they are able to do it.

Also I may be wrong...
