21" AG monitor for $199 & free shipping

http://www.sstcomputer.com/product.a..._id=36-014-002

The only catch is that its a refurb, but its still an AWESOME deal for a 21" aperture grille monitor! I bought one and it looks just as big and beautiful as I hoped it would. It looks much better than my old 17" .26 shadow mask Viewsonic.

EDIT: It's not an AG monitor, only a shadow mask. IMO, it is still a good price despite this.

You're right; it does say that. But, the description is incorrect. Check out the manufacturer's description:

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/crt_445pro.htm

Note that Viewsonic bought out Nokia's monitor technology about two years ago, which is why this description is on Viewsonic's web site.

I can tell just from looking at it that it's an AG display.

the one on viewsonic is the 445PRO the one on SST is the 445XPRO, i think they are 2 different monitors. The pictures from one site to another dont really look the same either, in fact the buttons are even different on the front.

its shadow mask

The 445XPro has an Invar Shadow Mask Tube. I have a 445Pro which is an AG tube. You should be able to verify this by looking at the screen. AG tubes always have a couple of lines on light color screens due to the way the screen works.

Man that seems like a deal, my girl will be SO ****ed if I get that though...

Is it really good looking (to those who bought it)? And what's the difference between AG and shadowmask?

AG is what the sony trinitrons use, and all the "flat screen" crts

Shadow mask is what plain monitors use

Yeah it's very good looking. The colors are better than my old Viewsonic monitor, and Viewsonic puts a lot of emphasis into the color their monitors produce. I've never used anything better than a .26 shadow mask, so I'm probably not a clarity affioncionado, but it looks clear to me .

Just a note for this who are going to buy this monitor: If you get a BNC cable and the monitor doesn't display correctly when you hook it up, try reversing the black and grey cables. That is, put the black cable into the grey input and the grey input into the black cable. Strange, but it works.

Lay your foot down. Don't let them run you around. Anyone else had this problem?
