Bougt a new Antec Truepower 420w Psu...
Installed it ... turned the power on...
heard a humming sound from the psu... before i could cut the power the fuse went..
So i switched back to my old psu and powered the computer back on.

Now the screen is black but the fans are running.

The next day.. i tried the hardware at a ftiend.
The things that were broke.. was the cpu (xp1800 tbred) and my m/b (Epox 8k5a2+)

tried my cpu in his, dead... tried new cpu in my m/b dead
The memory and all the rest of the hardware was ok..

But my question is what could have happened..?

The firm that sold me the antec psu.. where very good at helping me out.
So now i am getting a epox 8rda+ and a Xp2100 tbred-b (payed a small diffrence)
But i will still run it with my old psu.. :)

I am wodering if anybody has heard something like this....
excuse my english.... hope you understand... :)

Sounds like there was a over load in your PSU and it friend your motherboard....i had the same problem...but every thing went....sorry to hear that to happen to you

Ah,your English is good, so no problem. :)

That is a very strange thing to happen -- somehow, it sounds like the PSU got overloaded (a short somewhere?) and took a few things with it in its blaze of glory. That's pretty spooky.

I'm glad to hear that the shop took good care of you, but I'm really curious, too, as to what might have happened. Anybody? -- Paul

thx guys... it is scary that it happened...
I did hear that humming for a few seconds then the fuse went
Then i tried it again.. but then the fuse went instantly. (fuse in the house)
