newbie question here,

what is a C1 stepped .... ???

I am about to buy a P4 shortly and need to know what to get if i need anything specific. I spoke to some shop shere in teh UK and they dont offer hand picked chips or anything ?????

I will either go for the 2.4B or if the 3ghz prices come down in March (when supposedly teh 3.2 is being released) then i may go teh whole hog and opt for the 3ghz

thanks

Rich

It's actually called "C1 Stepping."

This refers to the production version of a particular line of processors (in this case the Pentium IV). Generally speaking, the newer the stepping, the better the chips tend to overclock (and in a many cases, they tend to operate on lower voltages and temperatures). 'C1' is the most recent Pentium IV stepping as of now.

okay thanks

if i buy a P4 here in teh UK then, should i specify that it is a C1 stepping P4 ?
