that's really strange because as you said, the platinum is supposed to be more expensive. I guess that's a good thing for people looking for sticks right now, and they rush to it.

There is a difference b/w Platinum and regular XMS. My friend has a regular XMS stick and its an older rev. so he has Samsung chips in his ram while my stick of Platinum has Winabon. Mine overclocks much more than his does. So, I assume the Platinum version is the newer version. BTW I bought mine from Fry's for $79.99 you might wanna check if they still have it for sale.

In reference to the Kingston Hyper-X ram. I was able to get my hands on one and test it out (what wonderful friends I have). The PC3500 module basically does what a Corsair XMS PC3500 module would do. Nevertheless, PC3200 XMS sticks are right up there too. Either way you can't go wrong with any of these sticks they all use Winabon memory so it doesn't matter. The PC3500 modules are supposed to use 5ns while the PC3200 is supposed to use 6 ns chips. Still with my PC3200 Corsair XMS Platinum I can hit either speeds set my the other two sticks at any timming.

i'd say get the one stick of 512 now, so you'll have hte option of getting another stick later on.

I'm facing the same dillema right now, pay $414 for a twin set of 1gig of pc3200 or get 2 sticks of 512xms low latency for 380. I'm probably going with the 2 seperate sticks for 380. Anyone know of any performance diff the twin set offers?

Latency of 2.5 or 2.0 is most desireable.
