Eheim 1048 - did you have to change the barbs?

I am doing a 1/2" ID tubing all around, and so far have most things. I was reading about the 1048 and it is used with a 3/8"?? Does that mean I have to change the barbs? And for those who did what did you use?

I was actually trying to search for this and one guy ended up getting leaks after changing his barbs. But it didn't specify that he had to change them.

If you go to www.eheim.com you can see that the 1048 Centrifugal pump states "Hose connection (suction/pressure side) 1/2".

Perhaps the person changed to 3/8" for his specific system?

Ahh ok... strange I actually was reading it on a website, and the specs said 3/8".. maybe they meant ID rather than OD. Thanks!
