I realize PCP&C’s power supplies are considered to be one of the best-built and stable power plants out there, but I haven’t seen too much comment on how loud they are. I realize they publish a noise spec for each PS, but specs often don’t tell the whole story. Can anyone lend a hand and give me your impression, and a relative rating, of how loud you’d say your PCP&C PS is?
I see the specs are exactly the same between the Silencer 400 and the Turbo Cool 425, with the exception of the CFM and dB(A) rating (37 compared to 42, respectively). But exactly how much louder is this? Has anyone had a chance to compare the relative noise levels between these two models?
I’d like to think I could get away with running the Silencer 400…or at worst perhaps the TC 425, but I’m not sure. I may even have to go to the Turbo Cool 510 which is rated at a whopping 44 dB(A). If anyone has any experience with how loud this bad boy is, I’d appreciate that also.
Considering that I’m building a 3.06 P4 rig, with one…possibly two…gigs memory, running a four drive array, along with the usual compliment of CD-RW and DVD devices, not to mention perhaps throwing in a fifth SCSI boot drive in the future, I may be dreaming to think I can use the Silencer 400. Anyone know if I could indeed get away with it in such a set up? Or would I be better off going with the TC 510? If so…should I start warning my neighbors now about the noise?
Any info anyone can relay would be appreciated.

P.S. I realize there are other great PS out there…and I’m sure I could probably make one of them work just fine…however, my mind is set on PCP&C and I’m just trying to determine what I’m in for as far as noise is concerned.
