Im ordering my memory for my new rig, and I cannot decide between these two types of memory:

Corsair CMX512-3200C2PT 512MB DDR400 PC3200 64Mx64 184 DIMM Cas2 Memory w/Silver Heat Spreader

OR

Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 512MB DDR333 PC2700 Memory

If I went with the Kingston I could get 1Gig instead of 512MB and run them in Dual Channel. Im gonna have:

Asus A7N8X-Deluxe
AthlonXP 2100+ Tbred
Thermalright SLK-800

I want to be able to overclock my comp, but not to insanely high levels. So which would be the better deal?

i would go corsair... just a personal preference over kingston. :) i would have to pop off that heatspreader though, i think they insulate more than help.

with that chip and mobo, it is likely that you could get 190-200Mhz fsb without much trouble. if you get the kingston it could hold you back, the corsair will not. if it was between 256MB and 512MB i might suggest you go for 512, but between 512 and 1GB, i'd go for the 512 of corsair and the potentially higher fsb.

What about Crucial Memory? How does it do? Would Crucial be better then Kingston? 512MB Crucial PC2700 2.5Cas for $100. Thats like $50 cheaper then the Corsair.

its quite possible that either the kingston or crucial could do 190-200Mhz but its also quite possible that they won't. the reason that the corsair is so much more expensive is that it is guaranteed to run at least at 200Mhz, and will most likely go higher.

I would also go with Corsair. They have excellent customer service, which is a plus, and they simply make the best memory available right now. Not sure about Kingston's C/S, but for the price, they are also supposed to be better than average.

I would like to know what the other timings are for the Kingston other than CL. You might consider the Kingston HyperX memory, as it's touted to be some pretty good memory. I think newegg sells it (not sure about pricing though).

I am looking for memory that can run at 220-230 MHz.

For Corsair, at least I am sure I'll be getting 200 MHz 6-2-2-2 timing @ 2.5V for a 3200LL, or 217 MHz 6-3-3-2 @ 2.5V for a 3500C2, otherwise I can ask for RMA from Corsair. Whether I can get 10% more from it is a matter of "luck", most ppl on the forum say Corsair can oc by 5-10% (but this is extra and no guarantee).

I hesitate to order Kingston HyperX 3500 which spec at 8-4-4-2, I cannot complain if it can only run at 217 MHz with 8-4-4-2. I am leaning towards Corsair 3500C2, since I know at least I'll get 217 MHz at 6-3-3-2. Also 8-4-4-2 may be an indication that the memory may not be able to oc much higher than spec.
