Red face Java problems with XP

I know Microsoft was sued by Sun Java, and I'm having Java issues.

For some reason, I installed Java Runtime 2 from Sun Java. Now, sites with Java always say I need Microsoft Virtual Machine (or something like that).

Anyways, if someone could just help me work through getting java correctly installed, I'd appreciate it

I keep trying to do that, and it keeps sticking on a part that says something about inventory.

Does anyone know how to get Java working not using Microsoft's service pack? I'm pretty sure I was using a different brand of Java before.

Check if it is enabled in the browser...?

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

Look for the MS Virtual Machine section and see if jt compiler for virtual machine is checked.

I got it from here.
I tried sun java before; it was some j2re file. It wasn't working. Then, I went to yoru link and realized it was only for the Windows NT kernel. After going to that link, I found this page. It was simple to install. You just click an "install java" link, and it downloads and installs it for you.
