I found that making a vent cover for the back of the case quiets down the psu fan considerably. You just fold cardboard or sheetmetal in the shape of a dryer vent cap or anything that kinda muffles the noise but lets the air blow down.

After watercooling my PC the PSU fan was the loudest thing on the computer...this is just something that made a noticable difference.

yup, i've noticed that, too. my PS has 2 80mm fans, and they are now the loudest thing in my system. Wow, that's a nice problem to have!

did you guys by any chance read the PSU watercooling mod couple of weeks ago?? I remember reading it, but not sure where .. if all heat-generator parts of our PCs are watercooled, i'm sure we'll sleep much better every night ... at least for us whose PCs r in the same room as we sleep

a standard chevette heater core can disapate some what 400+ watts of heat? whatever the amount is we need to figure it out and find a way to total the amount of heat generated by our spu gpu hdd and psu. total it up and figure the difference. but then the loudest thing will be the pump so we can seal it in a container of sand or while on the subject water!

lmao, I have the same problem. The PSU is the only thing I can hear now I think I'll have to pull the cover back off and install a spare 80mm so I can 7v mod it and see how that works lol
Already did it to the intake fan in there but completely forgot about the exhaust

This is why the Fortron (Sparkle) PSU's own. Get the ones that say "Quiet Power Supply with Noise Killer" and you're in business. Threw one in my grandma's machine and I frequently have to look at the Pwr LED to tell its on! High quality, low price, how can you beat that? Her 350 watt puts out some juice!

And Spacepiston's vent cover trick does work, sounds pretty quiet.

I was just looking to buy a new PSU just beacuse of that (and that it is too small) . I wasn`t completely sure which one to go with. Got my eye on an Antec 480W Truepower.

Yeah same, so i took mine apart and 7v'd the fan inside the PSU. Now the loudest thing is a "Silent" seagate barracuda IV which is quite loud now with its high pitched motor sound. I wanna find some sort of hard drive silencer..... anyone know any good ones???

seal,

I have a WD 120GB, and I was surprized to hear it whine like a bitch less than one month after, and the bad part is that I got the new drive just to replace my extremely noisy IBM deskstar.

Anyway, I ordered my SilentDrive enclosure from http://www.quietpc.com/ . It fits in 5.25 bay and completely barracades your hd. Now I can barely hear the HD sound anymore, the only thing I can hear are the case fans.
