Dual DDR and WU times

anyone tested the effect of nforce2's dual ddr on work unit times? i havent seen any reviews or anything that tested this. i am getting better times(2.6-2.7 hours) than my friend with a 2200+ @ 2070mhz. (my system in the sig). i wondered if dual ddr had anything to do with it.

if not i guess i will set aside a little time to do some testing.

Yes I have tested it both ways and didn't see much difference at all. What I found out is that I can run the bus much higher with a single stick of ram than I can in dual mode, and the resulting memory performance is higher than dual mode at a slower speed. I can't get my a7n8x much higher than 200 in dual mode, but it will run up to 225 in single mode with corsair 3500.

Well all I can say is from my own experiences with even FSB and Multiplier.
With a 8k3a and 8rda (dual ddr) both running 205 fsb x 10 with a xp1800's both complete the bench WU with in less than a minute of one another. The difference that I've noticed is the 8rda with a vdd mod allows me to run at a much higher FSB which interns gives better times. With the 8rda even in single memory mode actually allows higher front side bus than dual and intern gives faster times. The only real benefit to dual ddr that I can feel in the real world is gaming ( UT2003, unreal tournament and other games along the same lines), granted this is when comparing mobo's with higher fsb like 200 +. I've not done any testing at normal clocks or even slightly overclocked so you or maybe someone else could shed some light on that.

On P4 based systems, the Dual DDR Mobo gave me 7min LESS in SETI bench than my other Mobo running Memory 3:4 at about 250MHz(500MHz DDR)

hmm is there a quicker way to test SETI performance? 2-3 hours per test makes it a little diffiucult to do these sorts of things.

i suppose i could find a really high AR work unit.... but thats still quite long.

any ideas?

The only truly reliable way to test is to complete the same work unit with different hardware and/or settings.

I have also found exactly what TC said in his first post for my 8RDA+.

In addition, I estimate dual DDR to be worth an approximate 3-5MHz increase in fsb speed at most. i.e. 197fsb D.C. approximately equals 200fsb in S.C.
