PSU just not strong enough?

My Antec SmartPower PSU is rated 300W, with combined 3.3v+5v at 220W (no, that is not a misprint).

HOWEVER,

I am powering an optical drive (soon to be two), one HD, 2 case fans, a chipset fan, HSF (obviously) and a single VGA card (everything else in onboard).

It takes 2.9v to run my Micron PC2700 at a measly 169 mhz, and 1.94 to run my Athlon XP at 2 ghz.. otherwise i get Prime95 errors.

Seems odd I need this much juice to run these items.

MBM shows 4.84 on +5V and 12.16 on +12v rails.

Should I look for something with more kick?

You should look into a voltmeter to measure the voltages off of a molex connector... That is the only way to get a true reading as to what the PSU is putting out. Make sure you take the readings at LOAD!
