9700 @ Circuit city

guys i am wondering if it's worth it to go get the 9700 at CC ($299 this week) over my 9500 which i can return back because i just bought it..its only like a $55 difference..thanks

The 9500 is a good card and can be modded via software to be a 9700 so I'd say stick with what you've got.

Hrm... only older model Radeon 9500 non-pros can be modded into 9700s, and that sometimes doesn't work.

I suspect you have the Pro as you paid quite a bit for it.

If there's only a $55 difference, go for the 9700. You can't mod the 9500 Pro to anything.

I think it's a good idea to go for it - it sounds like you paid a lot for that 9500(Pro?).

2 weeks ago I purchased a 9500 pro from circuit city.232$ with a 20$ MIR.Wish I would have waited.I wonder if circuit city realizes they have the ti-4600 and 9700 at the same price ??What are they smokin ?

I didn't see in the ad that it was a 9700 PRO, just a 9700. Is there a 9700 non Pro out there, and if so, could this be one of those?

Check this out man..you wont regret it

I'd say go return that 9500 and buy one of these 9700 pro's...they are much better then the regular 9700's

I will never again (meaning i have in the past) buy computer stuff from bestbuy/circuit city. They just charge too damn much...

my most recent example:

Audigy 2
logitech z680

i saved about $150 because i bought them online rather then at my local bestbuy/C-city


****beware though****

ATI is about to release a new card so the 9700 (all of their cards in reality) will see a price dive in the next few weeks...

there is a 9700 non pro. but if this is a retail package by Ati then this is a 9700PRO because Ati does not make non pros

try this out, if the one @ CC is a 9700 pro then just get that (search for 9700 pro)

I just saw in the Circuit City weekly flyer today that the ATI Radeon 9700 PRO has a $100 price drop. So if you go into Circuit City right now you can pick up a ATI Radeon 9700 PRO for $299!!!

I have both 9500Pro unlocked and a 9700 pro both run at about the same speeds but in games when the 9500 slows the 9700 keeps on trucking. Double the bandwidth is well worth the money.


I agree never buy from BB or CC way overpriced! I bought both of mine, well the 9500 is in the kids box, at computer shows
9700=$285 Retail ATI 9500=$170 Retail ATI

This is percisely why I tell people not to get the 9500 pro

I never lock up in any current game with my 9500 pro.

In his 3DMARK comparison he only got like 800 more points with the 9700 pro.I will upgrade when a card can do 7500 +in 03.Wich should be only a few months.
