Proxy Server Q and A

Q1: Is there floppy based OS's/Programs(such as Freesco) or something similar that filters out a given list of IP Address's(i.e. blocks ads, tracking cookies, etc.)?

Q2: Can the same filtering be implemented for virus scanning?

TIA for any 'A's',

There's Coyote Linux.. I havn't personally tried it, but you could probably do IP blocking on it (or some kind of access list).

I highly doubt you could impliment a virus scanning proxy off of a floppy-based proxy server.

Wingate (for win32), among other proxies, has an add-on virus scanner. I would have to say that sticking a harddrive in the system would get you alot further. You could run something a bit stronger, and get ad-blocking, and virus scanning.

Smoothwall is the best one i've seen, it has basic setup, then some advanced setup, if you have linux experience. So, you could go in and install programs, or tweak settings yourself.

I have heard of Openwall, but I havn't tried it personally
