Have XP2200+ Rev A should I replace it with 2100+ Rev B?

I currently have the original Rev A of the XP 2200 and on water cooling the best I can do is about 2Ghz even though my temps are low(Epox reads it as 49C, but the Epox motherboard always reads high, Air used to be 64C).

Now I am seeing people average about 2300Mhz and many getting as high as 2.5Ghz.

So is it worth it to pay around $90 for the chance to gain 300-400 Mhz?

I think it is always your decision what is worth doing or upgrading. Everyone is in a different situation with regards to money and the cost of computers.

Of course, you could sell your 2200+ A and lower the overall expense of upgrading to the 2100+ B. I'm not sure how much you could sell it for, but you could definitely lower the expense of upgrading.

i had a 2200+ then got a 2100+ AIUHB 0249 and well it turns out the limit in my overclocking is my mobo, it can't unlock the cpu and let me raise the vcore abouve 1.7v and that is just not enough.

if u do want to upgrade then make sure ur ram/mobo can handle it or else u will be disappointed.

Well I would say Yes, I just slapped together a 2100+ (0250) on an Asus A7N8X deluxe with a crappy Thermal Take heatsink and a panaflow fan. It's running 2303 on 1.825 volts @ 57C under folding load. I think it was worth the 96 bux..you? CYA!

So you can have more info I will give you my system specs. That might help.

Epox 8K3A+ Motherboard
Spir@l water block with the rest home made water cooling.
On Monday my Twinmos PC3200 memory will be here.

I am considering getting the Epox NFORCE2 board, but that will mean that I will need an external RAID card as well and I don't know if I want to spend that much.

Thanks,
Mark

I'd say it's not worth it (for a noticable improvement) right now. In a few months the 2500 Barton will be coming down in price comparable to the 2100B. I'm still running my 1600 AROIA Pal @ 1800 (it being the best overclocking Pally ever built). I'm gonna wait for everybody to weed out the future Barton steppings for the best overclocker.

What can I say? "I'm cheap." heheheh
