9500 pro not bios locked???

Ok, I am floating around the forums, reading about 9500 pro's and OCing. I decide to try out PowerStrip and DL it. Now, I have NOT flashed the BIOS on this card, it is the bios that came with the card. Out of curiosity, I decided to run the OC utility in there. To my surprise, IT WORKED!!! Unfortunately the cooling on this card is terrible and it artifacted all over the place even at 300/290 . Nonetheless, I am very happy that I will not have to flash my bios to OC as I didn't want to risk having a dead card. Well, time to mod my cooling....

EDIT: I did run benches to confirmt he OC, gained 15+ frames/sec in Q3....

Well I'll be..............

Mine was locked up tighter than a drum. Flashed it with warps 9500pro bios and I'm all set. Your right about the cooling though, I can get to 310/290 and I get these little white specks in the road in the car chase bench and the samething in the floor of the lobby bench.

you bench it with q3?
i use 3dmark2k1's fill rate tests to check (it increases as you o/c)
but 310...aint too good scores
since it's based on the same core the 9700 uses, should be an easy 325/310. But dunno abt you ppl tho...(got mine to 365/320 btw, with the shim off)

Sure, I can't help it, I love Q3!!! When I ran 3dmark it got really ugly, the whole screen got all wacky and I couldn't see anything... It only made it to dragothic, that's when it artifacted and I had to shut down to get them to go away. Right now I have it at 285/280 , once I get the cooling happening I hope to get up in the 300's on both mem and core.
