How cold can I expect a 226W pelt on an AMD cpu to get?

I'm thinking of getting into TEC cooling and I was wondering, how cold does an AMD cpu get using an 226 W pelt in a best case scenario?

Any help for this extreme cooling newbie is appreciated.

Thanks,

Wangster

generally, it could range from 10C to 30C.
but it depends on many factors eg. watt load, your water cooling setup, water temp, waterblock, coldplate etc.

I wouldnt say any higher than 20c but down to -30c depending on how many watts you are going to have the cpu put out.

You are looking at temps between 0C and 30C. After all you never said what CPU you will be using or if you are going to be overclocking it. With a pelt set up sub zero temps are hard to get. Right now with my 1900+XP @ stock with a 226watt pelt anda case temp of 33C my idle temp is 18C. Most the time with my case fans turn all the way up my idle temp is11C but I have gottin it down to as low as 3C.

How much more overclock is generally achievable in the subzero temperature range?

I'm running the 2400+ @ 2.4GHz with 1.75v, MCW462-UHT, with room temp of 20C, and cooled by heatercore with 1 120mm fan. The coldplate temp measured with a compunurse(siturated as close as to the core already) is around -9C at idle, and -2C with F@H. When room temp drops down to 5C, idle temp is around -18C, and -8C with F@H.

Kato,

Have you ever tried to push your cpu further or is that as far as it wants to go stable, regardless of cooling.

Its stable at 2640MHz(220x12), but it needs 2v to get there, and anything over 2v my mobo became unstable. So for everyday use, I just clock it at 2.4GHz with 1.75v

BTW, the temp at 2640MHz(2v) were around 4C loaded.

Are there any other combination Peltier/WB setups available besides the ones from Swiftech?

Also, what WBs are currently out or will be in the near future that will be compatible with peltier mounting requirements?
