Question about folding with Xeon's

Hi all,
I just got my dual P4 xeon2.0 rig. It came with the second CPU uninstalled. I booted the system and loaded the OS to get everything running before i started messing with dual CPU's (this is my first dual rig) When i run the folding client with the single CPU it only uses 50% of the CPU. I need to run 2 instances to keep the CPU pegged at 100%.

Does this mean that I have a hyperthreading CPU? or is this just how xeon's run. I did not think that the 2.0CPU's were hyperthreaded?

Hopefully I do and I can now run 4 folding clients on this box while not doing rendering.

Maybe now I can stay in the top100 of this team. Have you seen how many PPW you need to stay in the top100? this is much different than when I started.

yay for humanity!

I belive all the P4 XEONs are HT enabled.

EC has 2 of those badboys rackin up the points. When all is said and done you will have 4 FAH clients pumping out of that machine. Yes that will rack up the points. Keep foldin!

Do you not have to change the HAL or something to get it to recognize the second cpu? That is, if your using windows.

If you enable HT (bios setting) you will notice your 2 folding sessions right now, each running @ 50%, will drop down to only 25%. This is why you'd want to run 4 clients. With HT enabled, 4 clients running on a Dual Xeon 2.2 setup, the various gromacs seem to get 3 minutes per % completed. I really have no clue how this compares to anything, as I have not looked.
