whats the fastest a ak31a can handle

i went to shuttle's site to update my ak31a's bios and it says the fastest cpu it can hanle is the xp2100+, well, ive oc'd my xp2100+ (pally) via fsb and the bios says xp2400+, my question is what is the fastest cpu i can put in it and can i use any core?

ok, i found out that the ak31a aka the ak31v3 can handle tbred b's, i am assuming that it can handle the tbred a's as well, i think that the tbreb b's are the only ones that are unlocked, but its for the 2100+ and above, does anyone know the fastest that they support

I can confirm that Tbred 'B' CPUs work fine with the AK31v.3. 2100+ and above will have the 'high' multiplier set unlocked (13-20X), whereas the 2000+ and below will have the 'low' set unlocked (5?-12.5X). The high multipliers work with the '+8' factor- that is, the actual multiplier will be 8 higher than what you set in BIOS (7X=15X, and so on). I would assume Bartons are much the same, although I do not have one to test...

ran as high as 17 x 142 fsb = 2412mhz 1700+ T-bred @2v on my Ak31v3.1

Prime95 Stable.

Cut two multi bridges to unlock upper multis,

Used defroster paint to re-paint one voltage bridge to bring

default to 1.8v so that it reboots without hanging.

Used overclockers.com voltage mode trick to

crank to 2.0.

using beta bios.

this is still one hell of an old board. Solid.

I could boot into windows at 2465mhz but prime95 wouldn't be stable.

run it daily at 2200 @ 1.78v. This setup up will tide me over nicely for when Athlon 64 cpus and maniboards become available & affordable

u mean that the BIOS will unlock the high multipler option after inserting a 2000+ Tbred into the board?

n i dun need to unlock the PCU do I?

The best bios is the performance bios on shuttle's FTP... All the other bioses held me back... I miss u, AK31 V3....
