How do you test the volages of the PS connector that goes into the MB ?

Do you stick the neutral and live prongs of the multi/m into adjacent holes in the connector ?

I dont want to short the PSU out.

The black prong goes to one of the black wires or to bare metal on the chassis. The red prong goes to the voltage you want to measure, as follows:

+5.0V: red wire
+12V: yellow
+3.3V: orange or brown (blue with white stripe for Dells)
+5.0V standby: purple
-12V: blue
-5.0V: white

Be sure that the meter is set to DC volts when you measure,
not to AC volts, ohms, or, worst of all, DC or AC amps! :(

I had trouble testing my TTGI 520 at the ATX connector because they use such low gauge wire I can't fit the probe down far enough to contact the pins. But I was able to check the +5/+12 at a molex connector.

I bought some meter probes with sharp steel tips instead of the usual chrome-plated brass tips. They help a lot for situations like that, and they're much less prone to slipping

just tried it,

Every single colured wire reads the same. i think i only reads on the 200mV scale as well.

The meter is set up right. Neutral multi-probe, to black pin etc.

I think i'll leave this one alone.
