Newbie needs help with cheap 4.1 sound setup!

I just bought altec lansings 4.1 speakers from a local place, and followed all the instructions to hook them up, and the right and left surround speakers dont produce any sound D:

I have the lime plug in the lime hole on my audigy, and the black plug in the black hole.... just like it said.. everything else is hooked up to the subwoofer, color coded and double checked.

THe speakers model is avs500 i think... and the sound card is a sound blaster audigy... am i supposed to have some sort of software for setting up my surround for my audigy? Because i dont.... the cd i got with it only has the drivers and a bunch of random ads an stupid stuff....

Did you enable the 4 speakers option in the Audigy's control panel?

hmm

when you installed drivers, Creative should have installed their software automatically..think its called the Playcenter
Go try Control Panel and the SB Audigy panel should be there

IF not go click on STARt/PROGRAMs and see if Creative/Soundblaster installed the Playcenter under there..

Worse comes to worse, go to Creative's website (I think this is the direct link you may have to start from Creative's main support page)

http://www.americas.creative.com/sup...s=10&subcat=35

and download it there...

Hopefully this works.
if it doesn't, kick it a few times

PlayCenter should be built right into the drivers. Do a hard-drive search of it through your startmenu.

:EDIT:

It'd also be a good idea to search for the Creative folder too.

Maybe it's in your volume control. Double click that and see if its the default windows volume control or your sound cards... sometimes drivers replace the windows sound control with their own, I know both of my computers' sound cards do this.

Hope you figure it out...

You have to make sure to turn the sound card on in windows...

go to control panel, sound and audio options, then make sure under the audio tab that it lists your sound card. Then go to volume, and click advanced under the speaker setup then make sure it's set to 4.1.

Hope that helps
