Would a 300W power supply use more kWh than a 500W PS assuming the load of the system is say ~290W?
I would think that the 300W PS would be dissipating more energy as heat because it is so much closer to its maximum operating range. Thus, since the 500W PS is not straining as much, it would convert less electricity to heat. Since less energy is being wasted as heat, your electric bills would be lower.
Or am I completely wrong?
