I'm broke.. what to upgrade with $150..

As you can see in my sig, my system is a sad machine (although i can run my games fine at 1024x768x32 so i guess im happy). It has no overclockability functions except to change the fsb from 100 to 102, to 108, to 112... to 133. Doing this would fry my processor beacuse my generic crap heatsink will not come off.

anyways... if you guys had $150 to spend.. what would you recommend me upgrade? (yes it is a sad amount but that's my budget lol). I'm guessing I wuold have to buy all reburbished items eh?

oh and I'm keeping my video card.. cause i just bought it .

ok....... wel thanks for some input.

if you can't remove the heatsink, you can't swap the CPU, but basically I think you need a bit more money anyway. To me your next step is to go DDR with a faster CPU, total cost = $200+
$75+mobo, $75+(retail)CPU, $50+RAM

Assuming your system is OEM you'll also need to buy Windows, add $100.

I suggust you start with a good foundation. Buy a good quality case with power supply. You can get a good antec for 100 bucks. Then I would use the extra 50 and get a quality hsf for the future upgrade. I reccomend and an Alpha 8045 or 8942 for either amd or intel.

cause i tried takin the generic thing off with a flathead screwdriver, and it's stuck on almost like it's melded on or something. impossible to push clip down, and pull out.

and yes....

While you are pushing down using the screwdriver, use a second screwdriver to pop the clip off of the lug. I have had that happen before.
