cooledit pro?

i've been messing around with cool edit pro for awhile now, and its all very complicated to me... i've started reading the online manuel, but the friggin thing is like 300 pages long!! i'm not kidding go look!

anyways.. one of the key things i wish to accomplish is to cut out a portion or a track... delete it totally, and not have an empty space or pop sound where that little part of the track used to be.. i'm pretty sure this is possible, but alas i am but an audio newb

could someone please shed some light on this for me? i'd be forever greatful

I think you just highlight that part with the mouse and hit Delete key. Not sure if there is a more accurate way to mark points, I use Goldwave more it's easier.
