Arrow where ya find the radiators for water cooling systems?

I have been looking around for a radiator for a water cooling system in my oc and I have no idea what I am looking for......what is the original purpose of the radiator? for example the water oumo I think was originaly made for pumping like garden fountains and like waterfalls.....but what about the radiator...I go to autozone and ask for a small radiator and they tell me they have no idea what I'm talking about....I asked if maybe it was for a motor cycle......anyone have a clue what store I would go to to pick one up and what device it was originally intended for

well you could start here www.dtekcustoms.com for a pro heatercore. Radiators basically are used to transfer the heat generated by your cpu from the water to air.....

dude i have that same problem at autozone, a bunch of monkeys. but do up there again and ask for a "HEATERCORE" if they still don't know what your talking about ask for the manager and tell him you will like the smallest heatercore they have. 6x6 with the barbs out the side is problery the smallest. (me thinks its a 86 cheverette) there will be a shelf somewere in the back with at least a dozen of them so ask them to look for you because it is for a school experiment or somthing like that. When i they ask me what its for and i tell them its for a computer , blah, blah , blah they have a dazed and puzzled face upon themselfs.

BTW: ask for the "ecomemy" version, those are NO MORE than $23, the regulars are $40+

If the people at autozone are real idiots, you could just order it from autozone's website and pay the shipping(which is what I did).

Most autozone's don't carry the 86 chevette heatercore. They will order it and charge you like $30.00 when its only $24.00 shipping included at the autozone website. Half of those people who work there can't even spell the word autozone. They are not the brightest knives in the drawer and definately not the sharpest, but if you kick em around a bit you will most likely leave the store with a good deal. One time I asked for a K&N air filter for my mustang and they didn't even know what it was. Needless to say, I had them out in the parking lot installing it for me. I get home and find that they didn't even install it correctly!

My first radiator came from Swiftech as part of a kit.
The radiator now in that system was purchased at a VIP auto parts store:
I went in and said I needed a heatercore that was as close to 6"x12" as possible.

They said "come back here and look"

Mine ended up coming from some Chrysler product.......

Many part stores will allow you to check yourself, just tell them you need a heatercore of a certain SIZE, and that it is NOT for standard automotive use.

I just went to autozone and said I needed a heater core for a project. I wanted one about the same size as an 86 chevettes. I told them I didn't care what it looked like, just had to be small. Guy went in the back and came back in 5 minutes. He had a heater core that was perfect.

My cases inside clearances at the bottom front of the case was 7 1/4"x 9" and the core was 7"x 8 1/2" overall (finned part was 7x7).

16.99 plus tax, total 18.02, I was very happy. I'm building an all internal watercooling and will have a website up soon with pictures.
